Trinity Varsity Wins 3 Straight in Tournament
From A.D. Danny Johnson:
The Trinity Eagles varsity soccer program has kicked the 2010 season off with three straight wins in two days and a tournament win this weekend.
Fridays first game was played at LaGrange Academy against Central Fellowship. Adam Weissinger scored the only goal in the first half from an assist from James Hayley. Adam scored again in the second half, followed by a header off of a corner kick by James Hayley . Central Fellowship scored once in the second half. The final score was 3-1, Trinity.
Games two and three were played at the Troup County Soccer complex. Game two was against Mt. Vernon. This game got out of hand quickly as Trinity began to score goals right out of the gate. The run on goals was due primarily to the fact that soccer was a new program for their school. Mt. Vernon’s coach was from South Africa and after the game addressed our team and said we would go far in this sport. As a tradition, his team awarded an MVP for our team. Their pick was Ricky Hayley, and they presented him with a game jersey. Final score 5-1 (James Hayley 1,Winston Durbin 1, Adam Weissinger 2, Elliot Nell 1).
Game 3 was aganist John Milledge Private School. This game was by far most physical of the three and the hardest fought game we played. After 2 yellow cards for us and 1 yellow card for them, we won with a score of 3-0 (Harrison Godwin 1, Adam Weisinger 1 and Winston Durbin 1.) Although they had several shots at out goal, our Trevor Vordenbaum kept all of the shots out.
These three games were part of an opening season tournament at LaGrange Academy in LaGrange, Georgia. We were rained on in every game and had a 2 hour lightning delay. All in all, every team played well and treated each other very respectfully.
Thanks goes to LaGrange Academy for inviting us.
