Oak Mountain Halts Winning Streak

On Friday, the varsity soccer players from Oak Mountain Academy made the trip from Carrollton Georgia to Opelika with one thing on their minds; revenge. Oak Mountain is a talented team and is always fierce competition. With two of Trinity’s senior starters out with injuries, Friday looked like like the best opportunity to even the score on Trinity for our 1-0 win over them earlier this season. Coach Danny confided in me before the game, “If any team is going to beat us this year, it will be this one.”

Within the first few minutes of the game, Oak Mountain managed to get the ball past Trinity’s goallie, Trevvor Vordenbaum. It would be the only goal they would be able to score, but it still bested all of Trinity’s efforts. It was a physical game and a great opportunity for some of our younger varsity players to face a tough team, but in the end Oak Mountain was able to put the skids on the Eagles 18-0-1 undefeated season.

Today our girls varsity team and our boys JV team will travel to Birmingham to take on the Bullets again. This time it will be on their turf. Please pray for the teams as they travel and play.

There are a number of home games being played this week at both the school and at the Opelika Sports Plex. Please see the TCS website for a soccer schedule and come out to cheer our teams on.
