Trinity Students Perform Spring Concert

Trinity’s choral ensembles and elementary music groups had their spring concert at Trinity United Methodist Church in Opelika. The performance included students from Kindergarten through 12th grade who were directed by Mrs. Amy Hawkins. Different grades made music in different ways: 3rd graders played recorders, 4th graders played chimes, and members of the choirs often accompanied their pieces with instruments such as drums and xylophones. The middle school choir, the Trinity Trebles, sang a variety of pieces including an Israeli folk song and an arrangement of the patriotic song “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” The Trinity Singers, composed of 6th through 12th grade students, performed a wide range of pieces from traditional spirituals to songs from Broadway musicals. Almost all of the groups performed at least one patriotic song and often multiple songs of praise. At the finale of the concert, all the students joined together to sing a beautiful benediction to the tune of “Edelweiss.” It was a fitting end to a successful year of music at Trinity.
