Trinity Victorious Over Opelika Crush
Tuesday night at the Sportsplex in Opelika, the Trinity Christian School varsity boys soccer team barely overcame the Opelika Crush U18 team by the score of 1-0. The Eagle defense played their best game of the year in a very tight and close game. The only score of the night came off an Opelika hand-ball in the box, which gave Trinity a penalty kick. Winston Durbin took the shot for the Eagles and scored. The win ends the Trinity varsity’s regular season at 23-0. Next week they will travel to Dayton, Tennessee, to play in the National Association of Christian Athlete’s national championship tournament.
Trinity JV boys soccer team slipped by the Crush U14 team by the score of 3-2 at the Sportsplex. Strayley Goodner booted a pair of goals for the Eagles, while Lee Schuessler kicked in one. Goalkeeper Matthew Humphrey blocked 5 Crush shots on goal for Trinity, while backs Brady Watts, Ben Presley, Caleb Weissinger and Dixon Leuenberger led the Eagle defense. The win ends the Trinity JV’s regular season at 3-4-2. Next week, five of Trinity’s JVs will travel with their varsity to Dayton, Tennessee, to play in the National Association of Christian Athlete’s national championship.
